Katie is a National Board Certified Teacher whose expertise and interests lie in early literacy instruction and how children learn through multiple modalities. She is also interested in arts integration, critical literacy, creating a strong classroom community, and children's literature.
She believes that in order to create lifelong learners, teachers also have to be lifelong learners themselves. "I am a huge reader of professional books," Katie says. "I think talking about books we read with other colleagues is a great way to learn and grow as teachers." Katie also likes to connect with fellow teachers through social networking sites like Ning and Twitter.
